Grading for Homebound Students

To assist students who are homebound, a standard process has been developed when grading.  Use the designated codes below for the affected assignments.

For assignments while on homebound:

Exempt: Mark all assignments to be waived as Exempt. If there is a numerical score entered for the assignment, remove the score from the scoresheet. Any assignments marked as Exempt will not impact the student’s semester grade.

Missing: Mark all assignments the student is expected to complete but has not yet turned in as Missing. In addition, enter a 0” in the gradebook until the work is received. Any assignments with a 0” grade will impact the student’s grade until the work is completed and another grade is entered into the gradebook.

For the final grade while on homebound

Enter an I (Incomplete) for all reporting terms:  the Semester Grade (S1 or S2), Semester Work (W1 or W2), and the Final Exam (X1 or X2), if applicable.  For efficiency, use the All Reporting Terms screen (Grading > All Reporting Terms) to enter Incompletes.

Once work is completed

For Missing Assignments: Enter the grade for the assignment and remove the “Missing” indicator.

For the Semester Grade: To return to the calculated grade, click on the Incomplete grade. The Score Inspector will appear on the right hand side. Then click on the Restore button and the calculated grade will be reinstated. Complete this step for each reporting term that was marked as an Incomplete.
