Log in as admin_dist
System Preferences
Users and Groups
Unlock
Select user whose name is changing
Select -
Then “Don’t change the home folder”
Delete
Go—computer—Macintosh HD—Users
Rename deleted user folder to the new name
Log-out
Have user log in with new name
