PowerSchool Quick Export files export as .text files. To set your computer to open .text files in Excel, follow the directions below:


Mac:

  1. Find the folder that has the .text file (usually Downloads). 

  2. Click on the file once (don’t open the file).

  3. Press Cmmd + “I” on your keyboard (“I” as in “information”)

  4. Click on the section called “Open With”

  5. Select Excel

  6. Click “Change All”



Windows:

  1. Find the folder that has the .text file (usually Downloads or Desktop). 

  2. Right-click on the file.

  3. Select Open With

  4. Select Choose another app

  5. Check the box for Always use this app to open .text files.

  6. Click More Apps

  7. Click Look for another app on this PC

  8. Double click Microsoft Office > root > Office 16 > Excel
