Overview
Parents/guardians can receive email summaries showing their student’s progress in Google Classroom. While parents cannot get direct access to the Classroom space, they can choose to select either daily or weekly emails that includes the following information on Classroom activity:
- Missing work—Their student's work that’s late at the time the email was sent
- Upcoming work—Work that’s due today and tomorrow (for daily emails) or work that’s due in the upcoming week (for weekly emails)
- Class activity—Announcements, assignments, and questions recently posted by teachers
Please see Google Classroom Help for additional information on how Guardian Email Summaries work along with a screenshot of what the emails look like.
Inviting a Parent/Guardian to Receive Email Summaries
For parents/guardians to receive email summaries of the activity in Google Classroom, teachers must first enable this feature for their Classroom space. By default, this feature is turned off so even though a parent email might be listed in the "People" tab, the parent is not receiving emails for your class until the teacher enables it. Email summaries to parents include:
- Missing work—Work that’s late at the time the email was sent
- Upcoming work—Work that’s due today and tomorrow (for daily emails) or work that’s due in the upcoming week (for weekly emails)
- Class activity—Announcements, assignments, and questions recently posted by teachers
