Google Drive for desktop creates a “mapped drive” that appears in your list of drives just like District 225’s classic “G:” and “H:” drives. You can use the “classic” file/drive structure to save and open files in Google Drive. Non-Google files will open just like you’re opening them from your desktop. It is truly the “missing link” to being able to function completely in Google Drive!

In February of 2021, Google Drive File Stream was renamed Google Drive for desktop. In videos and documentation you may continue to see the older name; the two function the same way.
