All of your files must be backed up before your district computer is turned in, reimaged, or replaced. You MUST move any data stored locally on your computer to Google Drive which has UNLIMITED STORAGE and accepts all file types. Any data stored on your computer will be removed so it is your responsibility to make sure you have backed up all necessary data. This handout will cover the local computer locations where data is most commonly stored. Once folders and files are in your Glenbrook Google Drive you will be able to access them anywhere and anytime you sign in (including images, videos and audio files). To save time, use Google File Stream to upload a folder instead of individual files because it will keep the original folder structure and individual files within it. The amount of time it takes to transfer data to Drive depends on the amount of data you are uploading. | Important Notes
Personal Data and Devices The district is not responsible for personal data such as music, photos, or movies and cannot support personal devices. iLife Files iLife files (i.e. Photos, iTunes, iMovie, etc.) you have backed up will need to go back in the same local folders on your district computer. Turn Off Conversion In Google Drive, click the Gear icon in top right corner > Settings > Uncheck Convert Uploads. Documents can be converted and made editable after the file is uploaded if needed. Remove Unwanted Files Decrease transfer time to Google Drive by deleting duplicate files before uploading. Delete files by dragging the item to the Trash, click the Trash, then click Empty. Uploading Data to Google DriveUse Google File Stream when uploading files and folders into Glenbrook Google Drive for a more seamless experience. While everyone’s organizational strategies are different, one option is to create a 2018-19 Files folder and upload all backup files to this location.
